Dr. Seuss' The Lorax

Let's Talk Movies
Outside of action movies, I love and enjoy family movies.  That's when being a parent has its perks.  With that being said, todays topic is
The Lorax
For those who have seen the movie, have you paid attention to the stones in the ground?  One of them has the word, "Unless."  For me, when I first saw the movie, I didn't pay attention as to what that meant.  Keeping that in mind;
                                                                        Unless
"Unless someone like you
cares a whole awful alot,
nothing is going to get better.
It's not."
I can't give you all the answers, if you haven't seen it, you should.
The Lorax, Directed by Chris Renaud and Kyle Balda, is about a teenage boy named Ted, played by Zac Efron, having the biggest crush on a girl named Audrey, played by Taylor Swift.  Ted would do just about anything to at least get a kiss form her.  And he did just that.
Audrey had all but one wish that she wanted to come true and that wish was to see a real Truffula tree.  Once Audrey told Ted, he just knew he had to get a Truffula tree to win her heart.  Ted had no idea where to find this tree because he lived in a town called Thneedville, where everything was made of plastic.  He trys to ask his mom but she shut it down.  Instead, his grandmother, who goes by Grammy Norma, played by Betty White; tells Ted to speak to the Once-ler, played by Ed Helms.  As she tells him this, she informs him that.....
"They say if you give him .15 cents, a nail, and the shell of an old grandpa snail....." Or at least somewhere along those lines.
The Once-ler tells his story about how he met the Lorax, played by Danny DeVito.  For the Once-ler, the first night Ted came was more of a test.  A test to be sure someone cared about the trees.  However, there was one person who wasn't very happy about someone caring so much about the trees, his name is O'Hare, played by Rob Riggle.  Now I feel like I've said too much, so I will stop here.
I have to say, I really enjoyed this movie.  I mean, I grew up on Dr. Seuss stories just like I know a lot of you guys did.  Green eggs and ham, 1 fish 2fish Red fish Blue fish, Cat in the Hat, and of course The Lorax.  I think I like the movie more then the book because whenever I read the story to my daughter, I don't look at the pictures, I imagine the movie.  One of my favorite parts is when the Lorax meets the Once-ler's family and mistakes the aunt for a man.

Once-ler:  "Whoa! Whoa! You wouldn't hit a woman?"
The Lorax stops and turns, "That's a woman!!"
Or, what about how the Lorax leaves and comes back, he is holding his own butt!!  This movie gets five stars form me.  It's a family foavorite.  The best Dr. Seuss' movie so far, but don't take my word for it.  Like I said earlier, if you haven't seen it yet, you should.
That's all for now, stay tuned for more movies to come.  Til then.....

Iron Man 1 & 2

Let's Talk Movies
Hello everyone, todays topic is Iron Man 1 & 2
First, I wnat to go on the record saying that Robert Downing Jr. is sexy....Now that I got that out of my system, let's get ack to the topic at hand.
Tony Stark, played by Robert Downing Jr, is a young billionaire who takes over his father's company at the age of 21.  A company that manufactures weapons; weapons that end up in the wrong hands, put there by Tony's partner.  That is when Tony relaizes he has bee double crossed.
Now, I believe Rbert was great in this film.  Iron Man was magnificent.  It had the right level of action, whick by the way, I love.  You have a man who is forced to take a second look at his life.  A man who is forced to live with this thing in the middle of his chest for the rest of his life.  This round battery operated device is preventing small particles form reaching his heart, which could kill him if they did.  At least that's how it starts, until the brilliant minded Tony Stark improves it.  The device then becomes the Arc Reactor that gives off continuous light.  Pretty cool, right?  If you haven't seen this film yet, then you are already about 2 films behind and it's time to play catch up.  I say 2 because you have Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and now The Avengers, where Tony Stark makes his apperance to help save the world.

Let's Talk Movies

I hope I'm not overwhelming you with my opinions just yet.
Our next topic is Iron Man 2.

In Iron Man 2, Tony Stark and his best friend James Rhodes, played by Terrence Howard in the first movie, but now being played by Don Cheadle, team up together to help the citizens of their town and possibly the world.  Iron Man's new enemies, played by Mickey Rourke, who is trying to prove a point about the Stark family may or may not have done nearly 40 years ago and one very jealous man, played by Sam Rockwell, who wants to be bigger, better, and richer than Tony Stark.

Now, let's get back to Tony and military friend James Rhodes.  As we all remember, Rhodes and Stark had a big fight that completely destroyed Stark's beautiful house.  I'm surprised the house didn't cave in.  Anyway, it takes real man to execpt the fact that they were wrong about eachother and as friends, patched things up while saving citizens.  Now this film was remarkale.  What I loved most about this film was the fact it had almost 5 times the action as the first.  I expecially the how two friends can put aside their differences, come together and ehlp protect the innocent citizens of their city.  Tony Stark is constantly given obstacles that force him to think about his life and make changes.

With the upgradedone on the Arc Reactor, Tony manged to get everything back on track.  With the ratings this movie got and in my own opinion, how freaking awesome this movie is, I can't wait to see Iron Man 3.  Which by the way is said to come out May 3, 2013.  I don't know about you, but I will be at the midnight release for that one.  Both of these movies are phenomenal.  Hollywood knew what they were doing with these two movies.  With the second movie being better than the first, only they know how well the third one will do, at least til opening night.

Next up:

The Incredible Hulk

That's all for now, til then.......

The Campaign

                                                      As promised, Let's Talk Movies.

I can't remember the last time I sat through a comedy movie and barely laugh.  Oh wait, yes I do, about two weeks ago.
Let's talk about the movie, The Campaign.  Although it wasn't the worst comedy movie I've seen, it still wasn't the best.

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis are both very funny guys, but really, The Campaign, come on now.  It was, in my own opinion, semi-funny.  In this movie, you have a guy (Zach Galifianakis) who has never had his dad's apporval on anything, seems abviously gay, married with kids, doesn't seem to have a bad bone in his body, and doesn't know a single thing about politics.  Then on the other hand, you have a guy (Will Ferrell) who cheats on his wiffe all the time, had two kids; whom by the way gets told to put on head phones so they don't hear mom and dad say really bad words, what were listening to you ask, A** and Tities; never has a clue who he is calling, and knows nothing but politics.  As you can see, two completely different men making complete fools of themselves.  Sounds like a really funny movie right?  I thought the same thing.  Sad part is some of this stuff really happens. Like I said, not the worst movie I've seen, but it could have been... well, little funnier.

We have all seen the previews where Will Ferrell's character punches the baby, right?  Hilarious!!!  Don't get me wrong, there is nothing funny about anyone punching a baby, but Hollywood has thier ways of making something as wrong as punching a baby funny.

Although Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis work very well together and as I said earlier, very funny men, but when it comes to this movie, I need more. It's comedy people, make me laugh.

Well, that's all for now everyone, please feel free to leave a comment, I would love to hear what you guys have to say.  If you have any suggestions on what you think I should talk about or even watch, post that as well.  Stay tuned, because next up is,

Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, and The Avengers.

Til next time, Let's Talk Movies!
