Don't get Pitch Slapped!

Now here is a movie that caught my attention.  I know there are plenty of movies about singing, but not like this.  College students joining groups that have singing competition.  Without further ado, today's topic is......

Pitch Perfect.
Let's Talk Movies!!!!

In this movie you have a girl just wants to become a producer and that's it.  However, her father wants her to finish college first.  Not wanting to make friends nor planning on joining any groups of any kind, her father begs her to try.  When she was approached by one of the singing groups, she turned them down and said she doesn't sing.  While taking a shower, she was cornered by one of the singing girls and was asked to show up to the auditions.

This young girl had no idea what she was getting into.  She also didn't know that the judges had a song already picked.  Although she did show up, she was a little late.  She already had her song picked out and she rocked it.  After she was picked along with a few other girls, she learned why they didn't win last year.  Later, the girls attend a battle that occurs on campus, and let me tell you, that part was fun to watch.  In the battle, a category is chosen and anyone can sing a song that relates to it.  Here's the trick though, you have to make it to the middle of the "ring."  For example, one of the categories is "sex," so you have to sing a song about sex.

Afterwords, there's the competition itself where the head girl decides to keep it traditional, however, that only keeps them in the game for one more round.  By the time the next round comes, the head girl sticks to the same song but, the girl who just wants to be a producer, puts her own little twist to it.  Although the judges were impressed, it wasn't enough to exceed to the next round, at least not until the announcers found out that one of the other groups had a high school student in their group.  The group was disqualified therefore allowing the girl group back in.  After a huge break down with the girls, the head girl realized that the group needed to do something different if they were going to win this competition.  In the end, the girls won and the producer girl found friends and a boyfriend.  I give this movie 4 stars.  It was a good movie and I think anyone who really appreciates music may enjoy this as well.

That's all for now folks, so until next time...........

Jack Frost nipping at your nose

As we decided to take the kids to see a movie, of course this was when Christmas was just around the corner, they seemed to be very excited about the movie we had chosen.  Today's topic,  Rise of the Guardians.

I have to say that for all of the kid type movies, aka family movies, that were put out last year, this was by far the best I've seen.  It brings a whole new meaning to Sand Man, Jack Frost, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, and or course Santa Claus.  In all of the stories I've ever heard, Jack was a bad person.  However, in this very unique story, Jack is just misunderstood and no one believes in him like they believe in everyone else.

I really enjoyed this story because it shows us how Jack Frost became who he is and how or why he was chosen to be a guardian.  When Jack was a living young boy, he had a sister.  The both of them were out on the frozen lake, only it wasn't completely frozen.  The lake still had some weak spots and the ice was cracking.  With a stick in the shape of a cane, Jack attempted to save his sister.  He switched places with his sister with one quick move, but in doing so, the frozen lake split open and Jack fell in.  Unable to escape, Jack died in the water that day and became Jack Frost.

Jack had the opportunity to help the world.  Help keep the children believing in everyone.  However, he didn't want to at first.  That is until he saw Pitch and what he can do.  That changed everything for Jack.  This movie was a amazing and I encourage everyone to find a way to see that movie, with or without the kids (for those who don't have any).  As a adult, we tend to like a lot of the kid movies too.  Rise of the Guardians gets a 5 star rating from me.  Til next time folks...........
